About That "Sleigh Bells Ringing... (December 2 - 8)

Dear Family and Friends,

It is hard to believe that Roger, Bear and I have been in Texas for three weeks! It has continued to be so much fun catching up with family and friends. This week has been no exception.

Saturday night we were invited to my brother and sister-in-law's home for dinner. No one does Christmas like Diann and we were "in the Christmas spirit" within moments of arriving. Chris and Diann's son, Graham, was there, so it was great to see our nephew. Thank you for the delicious dinner!

On Sunday my mother, sister and niece drove out to Grapevine Lake for us to go shopping in Grapevine. This little town has become the Christmas Capital of Texas. We had such fun touring the Main Street boutiques and enjoying the decorations.

While I stayed in Grapevine on Sunday and Monday, Roger drove to Keesler Air Force Base to deliver a stain glass window of the shield of the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing. I gave the stain glass to Roger as a Christmas present twenty-one years ago, when he was commander of the wing. At that time, the 81st was located at Bentwaters, England. Roger wanted to donate the stain glass to the 81st Training Wing that is now located at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. The wing was thrilled to get it and will display it at the wing headquarters.

A picture of the stain glass hanging in Roger's office of the then 81st TFW at RAF Bentwaters, England. This is what we donated to Keesler Air Force Base. The stain glass depicts the shield of the 81st TFW and was created by a very talented Air Force wife.

The 81st is now a Training Wing. Notice the shield above.

We had a great week in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We have been busy with family and friends. The grandchildren will be staying with me while Roger, Rob and Suzanne run the Dallas Half and full Marathon on Sunday morning. See you next week for a full report of the run and fun with the grandchildren. Thanks for checking in with us.

  1. Very thoughtful to donate it to the 81st Training Wing Keesler AFB
Mississippi. Personally I would have loved to see it back home at RAF Bentwaters in the Bentwaters Cold War Museum. At least it's not is some storage box packed away somewhere. Again, Thank's for donating this beautiful piece of art!
