About That Fleeing The Nest (May 1 - 8)

Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Mother's Day to you! Being the mother of Rob and Michael has been such a joy! I miss having them around me yet am so proud of the young men they have become and of the lives they are leading!

This week found us "fleeing the nest," as we left Tucson. Our house was sold to a lovely family who will create their own memories in a wonderful neighborhood. Congratulations to the Nelsons!

Our first venture was to Tolleson, Arizona, where we spent the night at the Freightliner dealer parking lot in preparation for the 7 o'clock oil change appointment. Freightliner is the company that built our chassis.

We left Tolleson for one of our favorite places, Flagstaff, Arizona. Roger and I dreamed of staying at Sunset Crater National Monument when we were planning our new adventure. Sunset Crater formed around a volcano created area. Bonito Campground, located next to the entrance, is situated in the pine trees that are abundant in the area. We found time for walks with Bear and really appreciated the cooler weather.

In the Pines!

After a great time in Flagstaff, it was time to head to Monument Valley. We are staying at Gouldings (think John Wayne movies). In fact, this is where John Wayne had a cabin when he was on location in the John Ford westerns. Tomorrow is our tour of Monument Valley with a Navajo guide.

Thank you so much for reading the blog. Roger and I are delighted that you are following us on our journey and adventures.

  1. I can't tell who is having the most fun, you guys or Bear. Love the pictures. Post lots or send me links to an album. I'll travel vicariously.
