Hello from Buena Vista, Colorado.
Before leaving the Air Force Academy on Wednesday morning, we were able to get in some great hikes with Bear.
Bear loves hiking on the USAFA grounds.
One of the best parts about visiting USAFA was the opportunity to see our dear friends, Ann and John, who live in Ft. Collins. We met on the outskirts of Denver. John and Ann picked up their grandchildren and the six of us had a great lunch together. What fun to see very special friends having a terrific time with their grandchildren.

Harper is quick!
Ann was a great mother and inspiration to me when Roger and I were raising our sons. She is a terrific grandmother. Here she is managing Harper and six month old Dexter.
Roger got some Harper time.

After leaving Colorado Springs on Wednesday morning, we drove into Buena Vista, Colorado, where we spent Wednesday through Friday. While in Buena Vista, we drove to nearby Leadville to see what was once the second largest town in Colorado with a large silver mining operation. Now it is home to several mountain biking and running competitions.
On Friday morning, we drove into the San Isabel National Forest within the Rocky Mountains, to hike Ptarmigan Trail.

Heading into the Rockies
Bear and Roger at the start of our hike.
We climbed to 11,000 feet.
We spotted a rock fall along the way.
Our kind of Rocky Mountain high.
Bear is ready to head home after a great time on the trail.
We head to Gunnison for two nights tomorrow and then on to Montrose for a five night stay. Thank you for checking in with our travels. We appreciate your interest in our adventures.
