About That Polson, Montana (June 2 - 8)

Dear Family and Friends,

Hello from Polson, Montana. Polson is located at the southern end of Flathead Lake in the northern part of Montana. It is one of our very favorite places in the United States. After several weeks of rainy, cold weather, we finally hit summer with blue skies and warmer temps.

We left Anaconda, on Saturday morning and headed to Missoula (on I - 90), then north to Polson on US 93.

 Hooray, beautiful blue sky!

Gorgeous views of mountains, cattle grazing in this beautiful part of the country.

At Missoula, heading north to Polson, we passed under a wildlife bridge. Notice the sod covered bridge that allows animals to pass to the other side.

Coming over the hill on US 93, we see Flathead Lake for the first time!

After checking in at our favorite RV park in the country, we met up with Skyla (the owners' daughter) and her 8 month old double doodle, Molly. Bear and Molly hit it off and had fun running in the resort's dog park.

We are staying at the same spot as last year. Our view of Flathead Lake is outstanding! What a thrill it is to wake up in the morning and have that gorgeous view.

The land surrounding the RV Resort is home to Mongolian Ringneck Pheasant. The picture of this male was taken through the window of the coach.

This week found us on the mountain bikes, walking Bear, enjoying the guests at Polson RV and marveling at the beautiful Montana countryside and wildlife. On Thursday, we drove the entire 80  miles around Flathead Lake. This lake is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi. It is fed by the Swan and Flathead Rivers. Wildhorse Island, home to Bighorn Sheep and a few wild horses, lies in the lower southern part of the lake. Osprey build their nests in the area. Flathead Cherries come from this area and we saw the many orchards that dot the land on either side of the road circling the lake. What a beautiful day.

We made a lunch stop at Bigfork which was hosting a Bentley show. In addition we poked around the shops,  art galleries, and of course, bike shops

Heading back to Polson, I snapped a few more pics.

What a lovely week we had in Polson. It is so hard to believe that we have been here a week. Thank you for your interest in our travels.
