This has been a busy week starting on Sunday with a trip to Sacramento. Because our RV is considered a "big rig," we have to be very careful where we park. That means we often have to drive in our Terrain to the area we wish to see. Our RV resort in Lodi is central to those places.
Sacramento, the capital of California, is located 30 miles north of Lodi, off of I-5. It was a beautiful drive north through wine country to reach our destination. The pictures below show our day in Sacramento.
Old Sacramento depicts what life was like in the mid 1800's. OS sits on the Sacramento River.
The old fire department is now an upscale restaurant.
Sacramento was the terminus of the Pony Express.

The Leland Stanford Mansion located near the capital building.
The California capital building is absolutely beautiful with some of the most gorgeous grounds that I have seen.
The flags are at half staff this week because fallen police officers are being honored.
Bear cannot wait to tour Sutter's fort. Yes, this is the John Sutter whose mill is the site of the discovery of gold that led to the California Gold Rush.
Lunch, on the patio, at a local restaurant was a delicious stop on our tour of Sacramento.
Tuesday was a trip to Yosemite National Park for the three of us. We left early in the morning and entered the park via Merced, California. The following are our pictures from the visit.
Bear and Roger are discussing our upcoming trip to Yosemite. Bear adores Roger.
Spring is a great time to visit Yosemite because of the waterfalls.

Wednesday morning was Bear's trip to the groomers. He is very proud of his new do and wants to show it to you! At the age of 2 1/2, his apricot color has lightened to a cream color.
Thursday was a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, California. Do you remember Ronald Reagan's love of Jelly Bellies? The factory certainly loved him as sales increased dramatically from his days as governor of California and President of the United States.
We learned that the factory works three shifts around the clock, five days a week. They use 60,000 pounds of sugar a day. The tour was outstanding with lots of free samples. In case you did not know, the top three flavors are: 1. Cherry, 2. Buttered Popcorn and 3. Licorice.
Friday and Saturday were spent enjoying Lodi. We were thrilled to get in bike rides through mile after mile of vineyards and orchards, enjoying the smells of honeysuckle, orange groves and roses. The temperature was perfect.
Thank you for reading our blog. We look forward to another busy week in Lodi. On Sunday, we travel to Monterey and Carmel for some Pacific Coast time.

The company provides a dog walk.

Floating Jelly Bellies welcome you to the visitor center.
Do you really need a shirt with a Jelly Belly on it?

I'm one of the reasons they have to work 3 shifts at the Jelly Belly factory. YUM!
